Welcome to a new season of mini and youth rugby at Castleford RUFC, where we are rightly proud of the achievements and the excellent attitude of our young players.

Last season our teams managed to both win with dignity and lose with grace and we are proud that our young teams are as renowned for their fair play as for their successes.

We are also proud of our RFU Seal of Approval, status, which recognises our achievement in reaching and maintaining the standard of a club committed to providing a quality rugby union experiences for young players.

We are a local club at the heart of our community, with links with local schools.  We are delighted by the number of players who progress up the age levels and our junior players do move into our senior teams.  Keeping players involved throughout their school days and beyond means that they benefit from being part of the rugby family and from the friendships and health benefits that our sport offers.

The credit for our success as a club is due to the commitment of our young players, the endeavours of the club’s qualified and enthusiastic coaches, our many marvellous volunteers, our players’ parents and supporters and our sponsors.  We would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to continued support.

With a full fixture programme and a full programme of social events coming up, we would be delighted to see our new players and their parents and families fully involved.  We are always glad to have help so please talk about volunteer roles with our coaches, volunteers or anyone on the Junior Committee.

Hopefully, this website contains all the information you need but do ask questions of any coach or volunteer.

The club aims to ensure that players, coaches, parents, spectators and volunteers uphold the Core Values of rugby union, Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. These values will stand our young people in good stead both on and off the rugby pitch and are reflected in the RFU’s Code of Rugby.

Castleford RUFC supports its aims that we:

Θ       Play to win - but not at all cost

Θ       Win with dignity, lose with grace

Θ       Observe the Laws and regulations of the game

Θ       Respect opponents, referees and participants

Θ       Reject cheating, racism, violence and drugs

Θ       Value volunteers and paid officials alike

Θ       Enjoy the game

THIS IS RUGBY: CORE VALUES

As part of the RFU’s “This is Rugby” campaign  which is designed to promote the Core Values in the game we will be distributing pocket cards as part of our own promotion work. The Core Values are:

Teamwork: essential to the sport and encompassing our view that Rugby is a game for all shapes and sizes and that all are welcome and play a part in on and off the field.

Respect: forms the basis of our sport.

Enjoyment: is the reason why we play and is the ethos we encourage at our club.

Discipline: this underpins our sport.

Sportsmanship: is the foundation upon which our sport is built

There is also a short DVD which goes with the cards and contains interviews with some past and present players when they emphasise the positive aspect of these values. This DVD can be made available for anyone to view and use to help promote our club in any way. The Discipline video is an example and can be viewed from this link: Core value—Discipline.

Welcome
